| Hi, my name is Jan Sawyer. I put this site
together in hopes it will help you with your candy
wrapper business. There is a tremendous amount
of information on this site so grab a cup of coffee
or tea, dive in and be prepared to be here for
awhile. If you don't have a lot of
time to learn today, simply bookmark this page and
come back when you do. Please know that this site
is geared towards those who would like to start
their own candy wrapper & party favor business, but
there is also a great deal of information for
creating them just for fun.
Before starting a business, you need to know how
much work owning your own company entails.
Yes, you get a great deal of freedom working for
yourself and the pros certainly outweigh the cons,
but in the end, it requires dedication, work and
perseverance. You can be successful, but only
if you treat it like a real job and are self
motivated. A party favor business is not a get
rich quick deal whatsoever.
When my husband, Ryan, started Wrapcandy.com he
worked around 14 hours a day every day. He had
to handle every aspect of business including taxes,
programming, website design, sales and customer
service. That is a lot to take on all at
once. Luckily, he had me supporting and
encouraging him through the entire process. I
did not complain about having to be the "housewife"
as I knew he could make it work with the proper
support.
I can't say for sure that he would not have been
successful without my support, but I do know that I
could have slowed him down and discouraged him.
If you are married, and want to start your own
company, be sure that your spouse is in on board.
If your loved one understands your vision, he or she
can be your greatest asset.
It was not easy for me to support him at all
times. Taking care of the daily chores, and
our 2 year old son with him working so much really
made it difficult for me; but I stayed the course.
I don't think Ryan took a single day off until the
site started working for him. Working for him
means that he had built a company with a good web
presence, figured out how to advertise, and had a
good product to keep members happy. The site
became popular enough to take time off after about 6
grueling months. After a few years, he was
able to step back and work on his charity and help
me out family stuff. Again, it was not easy
for me or him, but we powered through.
Ryan's philosophy and success with Wrapcandy did
not come all at once. First he has a strong
faith base, not that he'll be a rich man, but that
whatever he puts his hands to do, will in the end
succeed. His motto is, "Work Hard, Think
Positive and Expect Success." Ryan's idea of
success is not based on net sales or gross profits.
Surprisingly, it is quite the opposite. It is
based on satisfied customers, which I truly believe
is what made wrapcandy what it is today.
TIP: You should give your customers your
best every day and go above and beyond what you
promise.
